CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival

With a renewed format and identity that continues to place contemporary and progressive art in the spotlight, the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival will be running more than 100 programmes over the course of 17 days from 3 to 19 October, and across a number of Budapest's cultural centres and cult venues.

Hungary's most important contemporary "total" art festival – after being reconceived in many important respects – will welcome visitors for the 23rd time in cooperation with the Palace of Arts – Budapest, the Budapest Festival and Tourist Centre and the Hungarian Tourism Ltd.

In addition to classical and popular music, the festival will feature jazz, dance, contemporary music and opera, theatre and contemporary circus acts, fine arts and design, as well as literary programmes and a photo exhibition. The now customary venues of the Palace of Arts - Budapest, Liszt Academy, Erkel Theatre, Budapest Music Centre, Trafó House of Contemporary Arts, Millenáris Cultural Centre, Átrium Film Theatre, Bálna Cultural, Commercial and Leisure Centre and A38 Ship will be joined by the CAFe Tent erected next to the Palace of Arts, while contemporary culture will also be finding a home in the city's ruin pubs and public areas. The programme offering will be further enriched by the addition of three illustrious events to the CAFe series: the 11th Budapest Design Week showing the best work from Hungarian and international designers, the Art Market Budapest's contemporary fine arts market and the finals of the 2014 Armel Opera Competition and Festival.
